ISO 9001 Standard Article 1: Scope

ISO 9001:2015 Clause 1 What is the Scope?

Clause 1 Scope is the first clause in the ISO 9001:2015 standard. This clause is for informational purposes only and does not actually have any requirements to be met. The first clause covers the Quality Management System requirements. In total, the ISO 9001 standard has ten sections, the first three of which are for informational purposes only. The requirements that an organization must meet to achieve certification are from 4 to 10. These requirements are as follows;

4: The context of the organization

5: Leadership

6: Planning

7: Support

8: Work

9: Performance evaluation

10: Improvement (we will cover these items in our later articles)

Clause 1 states that the Quality Management System should consistently demonstrate the ability of organizations to deliver products that meet the requirements specified by both customer and legal requirements, and that organizations should use the ISO 9001 standard effectively, using improvement processes, and aim to increase customer satisfaction.

ISO 9001 is a general standard intended to be applied to any organization, regardless of its size, sector or the products/services it provides.

We will continue with Part-2 Normative References. We hope it will be useful..
