BRCSGS

BRCGS Food Standard ; It is an organization established by the British Retail Consortium (BRCGS) in 1998. It was established to eliminate the technical inspections of retailers and the inspections conducted by other 3rd party inspection organizations that provide suppliers of food products to retailers in the UK, and combine them into a single inspection. BRCGS v.9 deals directly with many issues affecting retail and the consumer, and tries to draw attention to these points in the UK and the USA through lobbying activities.

The purpose of the BRCGS Food Standard is to describe the Food Safety and Quality criteria required to supply products to UK Retailers within a manufacturing organisation. In terms of format and content, the Standard is designed to provide insight into the suppliers’ fundamental basis, working systems and procedures of authorised third parties. This ensures standardisation of food safety criteria and follow-up procedures.

The latest published version is version 9. Version 9 was published on August 1, 2022.

In line with the decision taken by BRCGS, the transition to version 9 will start to be implemented as of February 1, 2023. Companies with certification dates after February 1, 2023 must undergo audits from BRCGS Version 9 .

According to the new GFSI rule, there must be one unannounced inspection within a 3-year inspection period.

BRCGS v9 training will begin in October 2022.
