It was published in 2 parts:

Part 1, ISO/IEC 20000-1: is the formal specification of the standard and specifies the requirements for organizations to achieve an acceptable level of quality in services offered to customers. The minimum requirements that must be met to achieve certification are also set out in this section.


Part 2, ISO/IEC 20000-2: the principles related to the application of the standard and includes the necessary instructions for the best implementation of the Service Management process within the scope of ISO/IEC 20000-1 .
